Oh I always loved that song. There was a movie of the same name that came out in 1975 or 1976, very similar theme to Love Story, definitely a large box of tissues affair. I do remember that this song was used as the theme music for it.

Well I was wrong on the date I just found after I googled it. It was made in 1973 (hit the cinemas here around 1975) and was actually a made for tv movie with a shortlived followup series. I saw it with a group of friends as a teenager and can definitely remember bawling.

Aren't plum trees in bloom just gorgeous? There is one that I grew up with, at my parents house, that has these beautiful blousy white double blossoms. So soft and the perfume is just heavenly. That one won't be blooming for awhile all the trees down here (just outside Canberra) are trying to decide whether it is time to shrug all their summer finery.

A little bit of sunshine makes everything so much better, even your beautiful tree, and just look at that blue shy. Heaven.

Oh you're way ahead of us. No blossom out yet in our garden. Lovely memories.

i'm thinking of all that jam, that is a serious amount of blossom!

This really lifts the spirits. A bit of sun shine goes a long way. I am so looking forward to getting out into the garden, it needs a lot of work, then to sit back with my tray of afternoon tea and my knitting...Oh roll on brighter days...

Thanks for that, I'll be singing it all day :)

Your plum tree is lovely and very picturesque.

I remember seeing the film at the cinema and crying for hours afterwards! Beautiful photo - the sun is shining here today in Sussex, no plum tree I'm afraid but lots of primroses.

Gosh, that John Denver album was the first one I bought with my own money. I still love his music!
Beautiful photo of your plum tree. Enjoy your taste of spring!

It's probably very uncool to admit this... But I really like JD. Yes his songs are a bit cheesy, but they're happy and simple and easy to sing along... who hasn't ever belt out Annie's song?

When I was in Colorad this time last year I stumbled upon this garden in his memory, huge stones were carved with the words of his favourite songs... it was actually very moving.

What a gorgeous photo Julie, It looks so happy and fresh. As we head into Autumn it is turning leaves for us! I wish we were is Spring also but the winter needs to come eventually. I need to look at the positive - more time cooped inside to craft!!
