Well, like you said it will be worth it in the end! I'll soon be doing the same thing in a sunroom that needs all the windows replaced! Have you ever seen the movie' The Money Pit' with Tom Hanks? It's hilarious

I don't see any knitting books...

...wait maybe the spiral journal at the top of the middle pile is a LCR book of notes to be published into patterns?

Been there and still get twitchy about it! The crayons were a fab idea to copy(on blog if you pop over) ...our sun room can stay as it is..i'll leave that to you!!
Good luck!

Ooh I love nosing through other people's book collections! Love John Irving too and I have quite a few others in your pile. Never heard of Wendy Perriam - what would you recommend?!

Perhaps it is a mess...but your books remain colour-coordinated...so there is at least some order there!

Ho BOY! I lived through a remodel when my daughter was born. Can you imagine? anyway I don't think there is ever a "good" time but you'll love it when it's done!

But you still have flowers! Good luck getting through this.

Julie, your idea of a tip is so organized!! At least your book piles are. Keep smiling - it'll be worth it in the end.

But in the meantime your flowers are gorgeous!

You are the first person I've come across to also own 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' - one of my favourites books ever. Your mess is still tidier than my house.....sigh!

Hi Julie,
When I saw your John Irving books I just had to write. I love John Irving. Caroline B, A Prayer for Owen Meany is my favourite book of all time too :-)
Hope you have a lovely day, and don't let the mess get to you!

I know just how you feel! We have just puchased a new lounge suite for our back room but we are also looking after my brother-in-laws furnature while they build a new house and so I have double the amount of stuff all over the place. It's just so frustrating when I have the urege to tidy and ther is just no point!

Hope you're enjoying the slow mornings.

Oooh, chaos!
Good luck. I hope it goes quickly!

I'm obviously not the only person to click on the photo to enlarge it so I can have a nosey at your books :)

good luck with the chaos!

Oh! I would love a Sun Room! Jealousy running rampant. I just wish that I had more room. I'm so happy that you seem to be doing better...thank you for the kind e-mail as well.

My Dad was a Contractor...our house was in a state of "fixer-upness" a lot! I completely understand! :)

Julie--I hope your remodel is as painless as possible. Hopefully the mess will be short-term and the pleasure of your newly finished space will be long-term.

Good luck with your renovations :) I really love your "crayon cakes" from your last post btw.

All those books had me drooling. I hope the renovations aren't too painful. Just try and find lots to do somewhere else.

Oh dear ... it will get better I'm sure, with a clever husband. I am also a traveller that ended up in Holland instead of Italy. It is hard but there are lots of friendly faces in Holland and listening ears.

Yes very funny how many of us clearly enlarged the photo to get a butchers at the reading material. Very impressively high brow!

I am just at the point of choosing some reading to take on my holidays in three weeks time which incidentally really is to Holland (via France).

My house always looks like this. I'd call it tidy because it can and does get worse sometimes. What I like is when you find things you thought you'd lost - it's a bit like Christmas! Good luck with the building works - the worst bit is all the dust.

You call that mess?? I call it an arty shot!

Good luck with the overhaul.

:)

Dying to know the titles of all of those books! I am thrilled to have found Persephone Books through Jane at yarnstorm and am loving the recommendations from British buddies! Share please?

Hi! You do knit the cutest toys and cakes! I'm som impresseda, wish I could knit like that!

Moogsdad keeps threatening to do things like that and I do a very good impression of being preoccupied when he starts!!
It'll be worth it when it's done - hang in there :)

xx

eeek - I have this to look forward to!!!! We are doing renovations in the next few months and am dreading all of the furniture and item moving - where will it all go??? Just recarpeting half the house poses major dilemas!! There is only so much room!!! Good Luck!!!!

It seems you may not be looking to take on additional things, but I am having a giveaway on my blog for some lovely teas, coffee, treats, and some organic seeds.

Hi,
Just wanted to say what a lovely site.
I'll revisit now I've found you.I want to make some heart crayons now!
Best wishes,

Nicky

OMG - you should see the state of my dining room. It's nowhere near as neat as yours! It contains all the stuff that was previously in the spare room, which is currently occupied by a returned daughter. GOSH, I can't believe how much STUFF I have!
