garden stuff

Thanks to a spell of wet weather followed by lots of warm sunshine everything here in the garden has exploded!

and we're starting to reap the rewards from all of our hard work - here's our first homegrown courgette - yum!

love your garden! I'm wondering if your raised beds are directly on your concrete path? My husband seems to think that the concrete would get too hot and interfere with the veggies' growth. Our only sunny spot is on a concrete pad next to our driveway and I'm desperate for a veggie garden! Do you have any sort of liner underneath the beds?

I'm disappointed with my new strawberry plants. All leaves and hardly any flowers. The old ones I was going to throw out have more.
Have to admit that's all I grow apart from a few herbs.

Our garden is exploding with green too! I have been eating peas today straight from the pod and dug up a potato to find some lovely big potatoes under the earth.
Winifred, you can eat the flowers on courgette, i have an italian recipe book which has a recipe for stuffed flowers.
Also, your strawberries may not have fruit this year if they are new, you might need to wait until next year to get a decent crop. Ours weren't good until this year (we got them about 2 yeas ago) and we've now had so many we don't know what to do with them!

Well done to you for growing your own. Each year i think about growning my own but i have a tendancy to either over water or completely neglect living things! Thankfully my children have lived long enough to now care for themselves! Tee hee!

I'm going to need a machete to get through my garden soon! Getting pretty tired carting watering cans too & fro, hoping for some rain...just a bit! Glad your veggies are doing so well - that's great for your first year of planting in this way.

So jealous, it's the middle of winter here so not much production happening in our garden. Yours looks fabulous, there's nothing better than popping out during the day to pick your greens for the day, what fun :)

Wow! Your garden looks awesome!! We have just decided that we're sick of paying good money for vegies and fruit that are off in a couple of days... that's what happens when you live in the middle of no where!! So, I think the plan is that once winter is over... we'll have our own vegie garden... can't wait!! :) Glad to see yours is looking so good!!

Waaaay too cold for veges here at the moment...although there is heaps of rain! My chickens look very bedraggled as they sail around the yard. All their fluffy little underbellies looking mucky ducky yucky! Poor girls!

How funny - I've never heard of "courgettes" but they sure look like what we in the States call "zucchini"! Your garden looks wonderful - I wish I could grow veggies, but between my hole-digging boys and my hole-digging 100 pound dog, I don't think I'd be very successful.
