Our new camera has made me very happy today. I've never had one with a proper zoom lens before and I've had lots of fun snapping away at things in the garden and learning how to use it while the children play.
I'm also very happy that I let this one onion plant flower instead of chopping off the stem in order to grow a fat onion - the flower is rather beautiful and is getting lots of attention from the hoverflies.

Thanks for the kind comments. The new camera is a Panasonic lumix DMC FZ38.

Good tools are a lovely treat. And onion flower balls are a luxury.
And see how you are? You share your delight with us. I wonder how many people, reading this, feel somehow uplifted when they leave it - that makes you singularly useful in the world, my dear.

Most lovely pics. Congrats! on your new camera. Often a veggie that's allowed to bloom offers the most beautiful flowers, I agree.

Julie - Great to read your unexpected e-mails - didn't expect we would hear from you so soon. A pleasure for your many followers!! Good news that you found the water park - a treat to add to your list. Love all the photos on these recent messages. Keep trying to remember to grow some onions for the flowers - saw some gorgeous alliums at Wisley a couple of years ago. They were majestic and a gorgeous blue. Have left some herbs to go to seed and blossom this year - worth experimenting as some of them have surprising flowers. Hope you are all continuing to enjoy the hols. JennyH.

My shallots bloomed while I was away on holiday. I thought they were so pretty, I cut the flowers and put them in a vase in the dining room. Within an hour the entire house smelled of onions!

Amazing water park... near to where my son lives with his wife. Is he too old to play? Hmmm, guess so. Love the camera shots. x

I bought a new camera at the weekend too! The Panasonic FZ38 was on my shortlist, but I went for the Fuji HS10 in the end as it has a HUGE zoom which is perfect for our birdwatching and Norfolk holidays! Rosy x

After doing a lot of research into various cameras I've just decided to get the same camera as you - your gorgeous photos have confirmed that I've made the right choice. Just got to wait till my birthday in September.

This one of the best blogs I have seen. Much better than all those"I got up and painted my nails again" rubbish. Also, they are very good pix. Well done.
