In short, I regard all information that I receive from you during the process of running this blog and/or dealing with your order, as strictly private. I will not contact you without your permission unless for a reason directly related to a problem with your purchase. All of the services I provide (this blog, pattern sales, mailing list) are managed by third parties who share the information that you give to them with me (see below).
And here's the long version of that statement:
What Information I Collect, Why I Need It and How I Use It:
I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:
to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, reply to a question you've posted on the blog, to provide customer support, or keep you informed if you have chosen to join my mailing list;
to comply with a legal obligation, such as retaining information about your purchase as required by tax law;
compliance with third party Policies and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Paypal, Ravelry, Typepad and Mailchimp Policies and Terms of Use.
If you order a pattern, you provide certain information during the purchase process (which you authorised Paypal to provide to me as part of the purchase process), specifically your name, email, address, amount you have paid and the details of the product that you’re ordering (please note that I never receive any information related to any financial accounts). Some of this information is also shared with Ravelry in order for your purchase to be digitally delivered. I download and store information about purchases solely in order to comply with my legal tax obligations.
If you leave a comment on my blog it is stored by Typepad and I have access to it along with your email address. I may contact you via email but only to reply to a question you have asked, and otherwise will not access or download your email address. I can remove comments that you have previously left on the blog if you contact me to request that I do so.
If you choose to subscribe to my mailing list (via the sign up form on my blog) you give me permission to send you occasional emails (maximum of 5 per year) with news of any finished items that I have for sale and/or any new pattern releases. This mailing list is held and managed by Mailchimp (I have access to it but do not download or store any data from it) and you can leave it at any time by simply clicking 'unsubscribe' at the bottom of any of the emails you receive from me.

Cookies:
What are Cookies?
A “cookie” is a piece of information that is stored on your device hard drive and which records how you move around a website so that, when you revisit that website, it can present tailored options based on the information stored about your last visit. Cookies can also be used to analyse traffic and for advertising and marketing purposes. Cookies often contain an anonymous unique identifier that is accessible only by the website that placed it there, not by any other site. Cookies are used by nearly all websites.
By default, your browser will accept Cookies; however choosing to enable or disable Cookies in your web browser can alter this. For further details please consult the help menu in your browser. You can block cookies at any time by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of some or all cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) this may prevent you from using the full range of Services available on this website.
Ravelry (the shopping cart), MailChimp (the mailing list provider), PayPal (the payment processor) and Typepad (the website host) all use cookies for their needs, for instance they remember whether you've left a comment before or or have an item in your shopping cart.
