As a parent you often wonder if all of your nagging is in vain - do your kids really listen when you tell them to not talk with a mouthful of food, to take their shoes off in the porch or to tidy their room? Sometimes however you get a glimpse that some of it is sinking in. I went upstairs yesterday and found this taped to Amy's door
Apparently to enter her room you now have to join a club but only if you're a girl or Daddy - no boys 'aloud'! And there are 'ruls' by which you must abide:
1. no pushing
2. no calling people names
3. no punching
4. have fun
5. no waking Amy up in the night
Meetings: sunday afternoon till evning.
Bless her!
Thanks so much for the continuing good wishes for my Mum. She is making good progress and has started physiotherapy. She's been able to get up and begin learning to walk with the Halo brace and we're hoping that she'll be able to come out of hospital later this week.
Thanks too for all of the wonderful, generous bids on Rose bunny and to everyone who dropped by Rose's website and made a donation of their own. Rose's family are touched by your kindness and are extremely grateful and I am too!

Hahaha =) I remember having things like this at my door as well, when I was a kid. I guess it's the first discovery of privacy. At some age they start wanting to have what the big people have too!...

Haha, great isn't it? They know what you tell them and they are learning, although you sometimes really wonder if they do so;-)
My daughter (13 ) has a black board in her room, where she writes what is right and wrong, and what she doesn't like about some childeren. On her door just is one note; knock if you want to enter;-) But when I see her talking to children in her class through MSN, helping them. Although her room never is clean, she has so much that I love about her!
Great to see that Amy has this on her door!!!
And I am really happy that your mum is doing well, best wishes to her!

Julie - I LOVE Amy's No boys aloud. I also love her rools. They have a distinct taste of skool about them, particularly because they are number.
Oscar has a no girls aloud, except Remi on his door. (Remi is a female friend of his who echews anything of a girly nature so is thereby granted admission.
Great to hear your mum is slowly on the mend. Love her

You made me laugh. Amy's "ruls" are fantastic! However, I understand your feelings. As you know my daughter is 8 too and quite often I feel tired of saying "don't do this, don't do that" and I think these words fly away with the wind. But then, unexpectedly, like with Amy's sign, something happens (she says or does something "different") and I realize that at the end some of my words really sinked in. Thanks God and Thanks Mothers ;-)

Soooooooooo darn cute! Another reason to tell my hubby (for the 100th time)....I WANT A GIRL!
We have a son who is precious, but I soooo want a girl as well.
I think the purple tall girl in the picture must be YOU !

It has to be a girl thing!! Newly 8 year old, has been posting similar signs on her door. Brother isn't happy about the new laws. Mostly happens when other girls are around and the No Boys Allowed hormone kids in.

such a girl thing! for a while Princess had a paper 'keypad' taped to her door - you had to type in a password to enter!
i kept forgetting... :)

Oh excellent, a girl after my own heart! I'm glad to hear your mum is doing well; I mentioned her accident to my dad (he shares the falling out of lofts gene) and he sends best wishes to her as well.

That's adorable :) It reminds me of my boys a little bit, they decided to write rules for their room at one time as well. My daughter is only 2 right now, but I look forward to her doing these things as well.
Glad to hear your Mum continues to make good progress :)

A few years ago my daughter put a very similar note on her door, I think the spelling was even the same and definitely "no boys aloud"

Her door rules are so cute. Maybe I should make one of my own for my office door! I wish adults could get away with that...hahahaha

This is my first time visiting you site and I am just in love with it. I have read all your blogs on autism and really enjoyed the insight. I am a school teacher for kids with learning disabilities at a private school here in Washington DC. Many of my students are autistic. I feel your joy and also your pain. Know that by posting your stories you are helping others!
