Amy has been a bit deflated this week (probably after all the excitment of last weekend's ballet show) and so yesterday I thought I'd make her something nice to cheer her up.
The trouble is that of the nine I made only these two ended up looking like roses. Still, maybe that means that I get to eat the rest!
Hope you have a good weekend. I'm being brave and taking Toby to visit a special needs club. If it goes well it could become a permanent fixture of our weekend - though I am having butterflies at the thought of leaving him, so then again maybe not!

ooooh they are gorgeous, 2 out of 9 isn't that bad!! how did you make them?
good luck at the club.

Gorgeous fleurs, such a pretty colour. How nerve wracking about the club but I am sure that Toby will love it. And the blogoverse can rejoice b/c with all your unexpected free time you can make more fab animals!!!!!

They look divine, I do not have the patience for that, or the buttercream gets eaten before it reaches the cake!
Toby will love the club, and don't worry, because you know it will all cool, and you and he will have a great time :)

Amy's flowers are beautiful (and tasty), she's a lucky girl!
My philosophy when attempting something scary is to do it at least once, if it's not nice you needn't do it again! It may be the best thing Toby does all week! Good Luck! :-)

hope the club goes well and I'm sure you will all benefit from it once it becomes part of your routine.

They are lovely, almost too good to eat. I hope they managed to make Amy smile.
It is so nerve-wracking trying new things out, but I'm sure Toby will love it and that hopefully will give you the strength to leave him for a bit.

Your cakes are amazing. Good Luck ;o)

Those little cakes are exquisite! It's worth having a few failures to even get ONE that is as beautiful as those!
Good luck to Toby. I had some great experiences with our James at groups like that. It took a while for it dawn on me that he needed to be with his peers, not just regular kids. It was a blessing for both us. He made some great friends.

Just beautiful Julie...the perfect topping for my red velvet cupcakes!
I think it's exciting that you may have found another option for Toby. Please let us know how it turns out for both of you.

Wow! How on earth did you manage these? I'm incredibly jealous, not least because all my adventures in cake decorating tend to go a little awry!

Wow, I'm impressed with your icing! Mine is usually just dollops!
I'm sure Toby will be absolutely fine and in a few weeks time you will wonder why you were so worried - it's perfectly natural, I always thought anyone taking care of my daughter was a secret axe-wielding maniac! It's hard to trust someone else with your child initially but you have to take that leap of faith. (None of them ever were axe-wielding maniacs....)

Oh yummy (drooling). Thank God they're not anywhere near me. I would spend the rest of my life wondering: to eat or not to eat? They're yummy for sure, but look so lovely too. Why can't you have a cookie and eat it too?

They look like lovely cupcakes.
Barney has arrived safely and is absolutely perfect! I really love him and enjoying his company. He has cheered me up after several difficult weeks. I'm sending you the link to some photos of him in his new home: http://www.mrspao.com/blog/?p=2600

Those cupcakes look divine! I want one. :-)
Hope Toby enjoys his new club. I'll be sending good wishes to him.

Try taking Toby to the respite house or whatever you call it over there. It'll be good to get him used to staying somewhere overnight and socialising. I'd say it'll be good for you too! My brother (17 and has autism) goes to them and he really enjoys it, he keeps asking to go to his respite house (well he just says the the suburb) so we just say that he'll be going in one more week, that isn't always true though! :)
P.S. Cute cupcakes!

lovely little cupcake as they are called here in the states. I understand that fairycakes may loosing their name as cupcake gain in popularity. Hope all goes will with Toby's club visit.

Oh when I first spotted those roses I thought how beautiful they were and when I read that they were buttercream I then thought yum, yum :) Lucky Amy!
I truly hope Toby has a wonderful visit at his new club and the experience is a pleasant one for you all :)

Your cakes are the most beautiful cakes I've ever seen! I don't really do much baking but I might have to give those a try.
I hope they made Amy's day!
